Alpha Tauri, Alpine name the date for the launch of their 2022 cars

 

The Faenza-based squad said on social media that the AT03 will be revealed on Monday February 14 but didn't say anything more about the launch.Alpha Tauri is the fifth team to announce it's lauch, with Mclaren, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Mercedes already having revealed when they plan to reveal their new cars.

Alpha Tauri finished sixth last year it hopes that the unchanged line-up of race winner Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda will help them to move up the order this season.Although their previous engine supplier Honda has pulled out of F1, they will continue with the same power units as its sister team Red Bull has created its own power unit division.

But despite new rules introduced for this year aimed at closing up the grid, AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost has remained cautious about just what is possible in the new era.

Speaking at the end of last year, he said: “It is more of a very unknown story, because it's completely new everything.

“We don't have any comparisons with others. I trust our engineers because they have built two put cars. The [2020] AT01 was already a good car last year, and the 2021 car was a next step forward.

“Why they shouldn't be able to make AT03, even if it's a completely new car, also very competitive?

“But you know, there are, from the technological side, there are also different philosophies. I just hope that we go in the right direction.

“Where we then really end up I don't know. But I trust our team, the aero group is doing a very good job and that they are going in the right direction.”

Alpine will launch the A522 on 21 February.Some hours after Alpha Tauri announced their car launch its midfield rival became the sixth team to announce its 2022 launch date.

Alpine released a video on social media to announce its launch,it also confirmed the name of their car which will be called the A522 in accordance with last year's A521.

In its first year under its new name they managed to beat Alpha Tauri for the fifth place in the championship but they didn't have consistancy.The team will keep its driver line-up with two time world champion Fernando Alonso and race winner Esteban Ocon.

The 2021 season yielded a maiden victory for Ocon in Hungary,the first win for the Enstone team since the 2013 Australian Grand Prix, in which Kimi Raikkonen triumphed for Lotus-Renault.

Pre season testing will start in Barcelona on the 23 of February.

IS VW READY TO ENTER F1?

Mike Krack appointed Aston Martin Team Principal

  Aston Martin have confirmed that former BMW motorsport head Mike Krack will be their new new Team Principal,taking over from the departing Otmar Szafnauer. Although he is not known among many F1 fans Krack does have an F1 background  having previously worked at Sauber and BMW Sauber – including working as an engineer with current Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel when he was the latter squad’s fresh-faced test driver. After that Krack  headed up BMW’s global motorsport operation since 2014, meaning he was in charge of the German manufacturer’s Formula E, GT and IMSA programmes, as well as overseeing their expansion into the new LMDh category.
