Ferrari name the date for their 2022 car launch

Ferrari will reveal the car that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will drive in the 2022 f1 season on February 17

The Italian squad bounced back from their worst season in 40 years in 2020 to finish three places higher in third in the constructors’ championship last term.

New recruit Sainz finished an impressive fifth in the drivers’ standings, having ended the year with a podium, with Leclerc 5.5 points behind in seventh.

Sainz and Leclerc will once again pilot the red cars this term, with Team Principal Mattia Binotto to talk to Sainz about a contract extension beyond the end of the campaign in the coming weeks. Leclerc is onboard until the end of 2024.

Ferrari are yet to announce the name of their new car, which will be the first under the new technical rules introduced this season 

The new technical regulations for the 2022 season mark a significant opportunity for Ferrari to try and return to the front of the pack, having opted against extended development of its car last year as a result, saying there could be “zero compromise” for the new ruleset.

Ferrari’s new car will enjoy its first extended run-out following its launch on 23 February when pre-season testing gets underway at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.

The three-day test will be followed by a further three days of running from 10-12 March in Bahrain, which will also host the opening round of the season on 20 March.

IS VW READY TO ENTER F1?

 Mclaren's team boss Zack Brown has admitted that they have talked with the Volkswagen Group,whose brands(Audi and Porsche) have been linked with a future Formula One entry,but that nothing has been agreed.                                                                                                                    VW has seriously considered entering F1 especially after the announcement by the FIA of the new set of rules for the engines which will be introduced in 2026.The 1.6 litre engines will remain but without the complex MGU-H component from the hybrid system (which was one of the thing's that VW wanted to leave before they commited to F1), which will have an uprated MGU-K (to 350kW, around 469bhp) and an undefined power unit cost cap.                        German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has reported that VW's supervisory board will decide at the end of February whether both Audi and Porsche will enter F1. Mike Krack appointed Aston Martin Team Principal

  Aston Martin have confirmed that former BMW motorsport head Mike Krack will be their new new Team Principal,taking over from the departing Otmar Szafnauer. Although he is not known among many F1 fans Krack does have an F1 background  having previously worked at Sauber and BMW Sauber – including working as an engineer with current Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel when he was the latter squad’s fresh-faced test driver. After that Krack  headed up BMW’s global motorsport operation since 2014, meaning he was in charge of the German manufacturer’s Formula E, GT and IMSA programmes, as well as overseeing their expansion into the new LMDh category.
