Mercedes and Red bull come to an aggrement over Hodgkinson move

 

The Mercedes head of mechanical engineering will continue his career in Red Bull after nine months of negotiations.Feature is the example of the head of mechanical engineering who leaves the German team to join Red Bull.The announcement of the deal between Ben Hodgkinson and Red Bull happened in April of 21,until now nobody knew when he will change teams,due to contract terms.

It took nine months for the two parties to reach an agreement that leaves Hodgkinson free to join Red Bull.The move will be completed in the 24th of May and Hodgkinson will leave Mercedes after 20 years taking up the position of technical director in Red Bull.He will not be the only engineer leaving the silver arrows to join Red Bull,as in the last months the Austrian team has managed to poach five more members from Mercedes. 

This has happened because Honda decided to pull away from F1 leaving Red Bull to build it's own engine program(Red Bull Powertrains) which will take over the engines of Honda with help from the japanese manufacturer and comprising it with people who worked with Mercedes.  

“Mercedes F1 and Red Bull F1 today reached an agreement regarding the appointment of Ben Hodgkinson,” both teams posted in a statement.

“Under the terms of that agreement, Ben, who joined Mercedes in August 2001, will be free to join Red Bull Powertrains from 24 May 2022.”

“We are delighted to welcome Ben to Red Bull Powertrains as Technical Director,” Horner said at the time of Hodgkinson’s signing.

“He comes to this hugely exciting project as a proven race winner and as an innovator capable of leading a like-minded team of highly skilled engineers.”

IS VW READY TO ENTER F1?

 Mclaren's team boss Zack Brown has admitted that they have talked with the Volkswagen Group,whose brands(Audi and Porsche) have been linked with a future Formula One entry,but that nothing has been agreed.                                                                                                                    VW has seriously considered entering F1 especially after the announcement by the FIA of the new set of rules for the engines which will be introduced in 2026.The 1.6 litre engines will remain but without the complex MGU-H component from the hybrid system (which was one of the thing's that VW wanted to leave before they commited to F1), which will have an uprated MGU-K (to 350kW, around 469bhp) and an undefined power unit cost cap.                        German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has reported that VW's supervisory board will decide at the end of February whether both Audi and Porsche will enter F1. Mike Krack appointed Aston Martin Team Principal

  Aston Martin have confirmed that former BMW motorsport head Mike Krack will be their new new Team Principal,taking over from the departing Otmar Szafnauer. Although he is not known among many F1 fans Krack does have an F1 background  having previously worked at Sauber and BMW Sauber – including working as an engineer with current Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel when he was the latter squad’s fresh-faced test driver. After that Krack  headed up BMW’s global motorsport operation since 2014, meaning he was in charge of the German manufacturer’s Formula E, GT and IMSA programmes, as well as overseeing their expansion into the new LMDh category.
